CWF treated me a wonderful dinner and evening at the Raffles Town Club. We decided to start early and we had a drink at the Cellar adjoining the dinner venue, The Dining Room. We proceeded to our table at about 645pm. We were given a comfortable and an altogether very pleasant booth for our dinner.

I had the salad buffet to start which included some lovely crisp greens, a variety of dressings, freshly crushed nuts for the salad (which was a real treat – pistachios and toasted sunflower seeds), cold duck, smoked salmon and other stuff. I mainly had the duck and the greens with lots of nuts.

My second course we double boiled duck consomme. Very nice and clear and thankfully not overdosed in salt like many places do. The usually strong duck flavour was subtle and not overpowering. Well balanced and clean.

The main and final course was grilled baramundi fillet which was served with some buttered vegetable and potato gratin which was also very well done. The fish was fresh and cooked so it flaked nicely without being tough.Altogether, the food was very good.

We ended the evening again at the Cellar which was a very civilized way to end the evening as it had a nice rustic feel, not too crowded, and had a great selection of old books. We read some books from the 1800s which was very interesting especially those which were a social commentary lamenting the morals of the "modern" community back then.
