Occasionally I get fed up of organic wholewheat, grilled veggies, tofu, brown rice and all that healthy stuff and I just want to have a big juicy steak. Tonight was one of those nights. However, I will not relent by adding salt.

This is one of my favourite ways to prepare steak. It’s really simple and really tasty and really unsociable.

Take 3 bulbs of garlic. Yes, you heard me right, 3 bulbs – not cloves. Chop it up. Fry in in garlic flavoured olive oil (yes, garlic flavoured olive oil), when starting to brown, add the rib eye and fry until you get your preferred level of doneness. In my case medium rare.

What you end up with is a juicy medium rare rib-eye with bits of cruncy and caramalized garlic…. oooooooooooooh yummmm….
