The yellow bellied sap-sucker from the days of my youth came upon me.

“Hello, hello, hello”, it seemed to garble.

I smiled and wondered if the creature was there.

“Quark, quark, quark” it warbled, leptonically.

Tentatively, I smiled and said “hello”.

The yellow bellied sap-sucker went wild with glee

I was emboldened and I engaged the bird.

I spotted the cage from the corner of my eyes and wondered if I should and simultaneously wondered if the yellow bellied sap-sucker had seen the same cage.

My sense of justice and my sense of conceit was in conflict.

Justice won.

The bird went free.
