The yellow bellied sap-sucker from the days of my youth came upon me.

 

“Hello, hello, hello”, it seemed to garble.

 

I smiled and wondered if the creature was there.

 

“Quark, quark, quark” it warbled, leptonically.

 

Tentatively, I smiled and said “hello”.

 

The yellow bellied sap-sucker went wild with glee

 

I was emboldened and I engaged the bird.

 

I spotted the cage from the corner of my eyes and wondered if I should and simultaneously wondered if the yellow bellied sap-sucker had seen the same cage.

 

My sense of justice and my sense of conceit was in conflict.

 

Justice won.

 

The bird went free.
