Those of you who know me know that I exercise on a regular basis. I live near the Kembangan MRT station and quite close to the PIE. Recently, an overhead bridge was built from where I live to the other side of the PIE which is the Bedok Reservoir estate. My exercise routine takes me from my place, across the overhead bridge, along the connector along the block of flats in Bedok Reservoir, leading up to a loop around Bedok Town Park and back again. The distance to and fro is between 6 -7 km (I think).

The amazing thing is that while the park connector is right next to the PIE, Singapore has successfully managed to create a connector which is essentially a mango and jackfruit plantation. Pictured here is one view of the connector:

You see the picture above? Mind you the PIE is merely 10 metres to the left of this picture. And the whole stretch leading up to Bedok Town Park is lined with mango and jackfruit trees. Take a look at the jackfruit pictures below:

I have to concede we have done fairly well to create a Garden City.
