Today I visited Alex and Jo at the hospital. I don’t really know what to think, write or say but I’d like to start off by urging my Christian friends to pray for them as you are led. Jo has been battling cancer for over 6 years, shortly after the couple married.

Go to their blog to witness the chronicle of their journey. Their blog is called Journey of Faith. Now, I’ve not known Alex for long but we struck it off well from the first day and caught up on a number of occasions for coffee, attending sessions in CEFC’s Men’s Ministry, snooker and food. I’ve been praying for them and it’s not always easy to know exactly what to pray for. Do you pray for healing? Yes I do. Do I pray for peace? Yes I do. Do I pray for miracles? Yes I do.

But more than that, as articulated by Alex today, pray for God’s will to be done and for them to be rested in His will. That takes faith, real faith. The faith of Abraham. We covered this over Ayam Penyet today.

I know that a lot of people have been praying for Jo. I feel though, burdened to pray also for Alex. They are after all, one flesh. He has been a faithful and a very loving husband and a wonderful steward of Jo. Yes, it’s true that Jo is suffering the physical pain but they are Journeying this together and from my conversations with Alex, they have struggled, fought, questioned but grown.

I’m glad to see that according to Alex, Jo is at peace with herself and God.

Do read their journey and do pray for them.

As for me, I’ve learned to value life more through the couple. I’ve learned also what faith is, how it can be severely tested and how it can be overcome. And, how ultimately, Christ always prevails.

Alex has mentioned this particular verse to me a number of times and also made reference to it in their blog. I can understand how he struggles with this. Read his post here.

James 1:2-4 (NASB)

2Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials,

3knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.

4And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

I don’t have any answers. Please continue to pray for them.

As for me, Alex, let me know when you need anything. I’ve been given a “divine appointment” as I mentioned to you tonight.

God Bless and be rested in Him.
