Had a very enjoyable and relaxing lunch with Alex from the Journey of Faith fame.  Alex called just before lunch and I immediately agreed to meet him. It’s hard to catch up with him as he’s caring for his wife 24/7 if he’s not running an errand for her or working (yep, he still works). So, I immediately agreed.

The only brief I had to give him was that I wanted a relaxing lunch. His first suggestion was chicken rice at some place in Marina and I think he dropped that when he sensed my hesitation. Instead, he brilliantly suggested having lunch at the Keppel Club. No, you don’t have to be a member to dine there.

It turned out to be a fabulous lunch venue. It had rained in the morning so although we sat in the open it was cool and we had a fabulous view. Take a look (click to enlarge):

The food was Chef’s Salad (me), Nasi Goreng Istimewa (Alex), Fries (I ordered but we shared), Expresso (Alex), Coffee (Alex). The Chef’s Salad was actually very good as the veggies were fresh, the chicken nicely roasted and the smoked salmon of good quality and freshness. I’m glad I asked the dressing to be on the side though, as it was a fairly basic and crass cocktail dressing sort of thing. In retrospect, I should have just asked for olive oil. The fries… well, how wrong can you go with fries? Alex, he seemed to enjoy the nasi goreng. All in, a great lunch venue, decent food, great company. Take a look at the food:

Talked about all sorts of stuff from sports, to photography, to food, to his wife, to Wimbledon, his and my family, and God. Twas good catching up.

The only slight in the otherwise pleasant lunch was that a fairly elderly man on the table next to us got really sick and through up all over his shoes and the floor. He looked really bad. I hope he’s ok now.

Look forward to when you can spend another moment again, mate. But you take care of what you need to first and know that I’m just a shout away.

Ending off with pictures of the lads.
