Yesterday, at lunchtime I visited a beautiful new life at the Mount Elizabeth Hospital. A dear friend and his wife delivered a darling little girl, their second daughter.

They named the girl Phoebe. Being the philistine that I am, the first Phoebe that came to mind was of the “Friends” fame. No, that was not why they named her so and I was gently rebuked by my friend 🙂

Phoebe is mentioned in the New Testament in Acts 16:1. Let me quote from the NASB version:

“I commend to you our sister Phoebe, who is a servant of the church which is at Cenchrea;”

This verse has been interpreted as stating that she was a deaconess of the early Christian church located in Cenchrea, an eastern port of Corinth.

Congrats G, M and D! She’s georgeous!

Some pictures here (click to enlarge). Will post more in photoblog later.

May the good Lord bless you and your household GN.

I pray that you have the heart of Joshua as you lead your flock.

From Joshua 24:15 (NASB):

15“If it is disagreeable in your sight to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve: whether the gods which your fathers served which were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living; but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”
